Start High School was founded in 1962, with the new facility opening at the West Toledo Bowman Park site in 2008. The school is named after Roy C. Start, a two-time Mayor of Toledo and founder of the West Toledo YMCA.
Start High School offers a comprehensive academic curriculum as well as Career Technical Education in CAD Tech, Residential Remodeling and Repair, Electrical Trades, Fashion Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Advanced Manufacturing and Machining and Auto Technology. Students can also pursue interests in the performing arts, fine arts, athletics and a variety of club activities.
Start High School is also home to the Start Health Center, which offers a variety of health care services to students, families and neighbors.
